On April 30, 2008 the International Violence Against Women Act (IVAWA) was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Congressman Howard Berman (D-CA). This is a big leap for the bill because it is now in both the House and Senate. It brings the IVAWA a step closer to becoming a reality for the millions of women around the world suffering from rape, abuse, and other forms of gender-based violence with few resources to to escape it. Stay tuned for updates and things you can do to help. In the meantime, if you haven't already, please Sign the petition (www.WomenThrive.org/IVAWA). Here are some more ways you can spread the word: 1. Tell Your Friends! 1. Blog about the IVAWA (and the exciting news!) 2. Write a Letter to the Editor of Your Newspaper 3.
